New district heating, sewerage and infrastructures in Zürichhorn
Zurich, Switzerland
The project involved the installation of the main neighbourhood distribution network in Fröhlichstrasse, Dufourstrasse and Münchhaldenstrasse for the Tiefenbrunnen energy network. In addition, the newly built district heating substation was connected in the area of the Fischerstube car park. District heating pipes with diameters of up to DN 250 were laid within the project perimeter. Alongside the district heating expansion, various sewerage systems, utility lines and property connections were installed in extremely narrow street spaces. Due to the existing geology and groundwater conditions, specialised civil engineering measures (sheet piling, piles and dewatering) had to be implemented. The sewer required trenches up to 7 metres deep.
In addition to all utility lines, the project involved the renewal of the road structure, including surfacing in accordance with the TAZ (Technical Department of the City of Zurich) standard, and the coordinated implementation of the various requirements of the utility companies and authorities, whilst complying with political, technical, legal, financial, scheduling and communication requirements.
