New integrated energy hub in Effretikon
Effretikon, Switzerland
Energie 360° AG is developing a large-scale energy network in Volketswil, featuring an extensive district heating network. Among other things, waste heat from a data centre is being used as an energy source. This will provide a sustainable heat supply for several hundred households and other customers.
Around 11 km of new district heating pipes, with diameters of up to DN 300, are being laid for the main network. Work began in March 2025 and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2030. Several sections of road and property connections have already been completed.
Planning and implementation are carried out in phases and include main pipelines, service connections, urban road networks, existing utility lines and challenging construction sections in densely used areas. These include crossings over railway infrastructure and watercourses, which impose specific requirements in terms of planning permission, construction procedures, scheduling and coordination between different parties.
Due to the tight schedule, work is taking place at several locations simultaneously. This necessitates ongoing planning of construction phases, coordinated traffic management and close coordination with the authorities, asset owners, residents, contractors and the client. Managing the project therefore requires active management of outstanding issues and interfaces, as well as consistent quality assurance throughout the planning and execution phases.
