GEHsundZH - evaluating and enhancing regional walkability
Canton of Zurich, Switzerland
With the “Zurich walks” (“GEHsundZH”) program, the Canton of Zurich aims to systematically evaluate and enhance pedestrian traffic. Founded on an earlier study in which the walkability in fifteen municipalities Swiss wide were evaluated (“GEHsund”), three analytical tools for evaluating walkability are being developed and applied. The tools will first be tested in three cities and subsequently be used to evaluate walkability in further municipalities within the Canton of Zurich.
TBF supports the Office of Mobility in the execution of this project. Specific tasks include coordinating between stakeholders, conducting data-based analyses of pedestrian traffic, and documenting project results. Through agile development and in close consultation with all project partners – this project aims to establish pedestrian traffic as an equal component of sustainable mobility planning in comparison to other traffic users.
